They say “a picture is worth a thousand words”. I have also heard “never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see”. Well it seems that now we can do neither, that is believe what we hear or see.

It has become evident that in this age of digital information, or should I say dis-information, that the manipulation of data to suit one’s agenda has become the norm. The Reuters scandal has brought the facts of this to the fore front. The sad truth of the whole matter is that it really doesn’t make any difference in the way people think, at least in my observation.

It seems, in todays world, that people already have pre-conceived notions of what they think is happening in the world and when the see a picture. or read an article it’s ….. Ah-hah I knew it! It would be a very different place if people did at least some research into the information that is placed before them. When I was in school, which to me doesn’t seem THAT long ago, we always looked at things from multiple view points before deciding if a thing is true or not. I remember in science class that in order to prove a hypothesis it must stand a battery of test. In this age of the “Drive-by Media” if you question the authenticity of the information then you must obviously be a racist or some such.

It’s too bad too, that we have denegraded to this level. It means that honest debate is a thing of the past……. sigh….. :(
